Dicey foods .... & other chemical additives

I have found cancer and reproductive health warnings on various food packaging at popular grocery stores. You just have to look, and research further, to learn what it is. But for me ...if I even see a 3 or 4 letter abbreviation such as; BHT, BPA, EDTA, or ingredients that are probably inedible... I just put it back. Not worth it.

Dastardly dangers & what we can do about it

A warning does not mean a food is unsafe or illegal to eat; it indicates the presence of a chemical linked to cancer or reproductive harm, even at trace or naturally occurring levels. Don't roll the dice with your health. Make yourself aware.

Will you help target foods I already have that are dangerous?

Yes, but you have to be prepared to take the time with me while I clear out the bad stuff, or trust me that I know what may be in the danger zone. For example "Windsor Salt" - I will be tossing that out for sure.

What is Acrylamide? And How does it get into baby food and kids crackers

Acrylamide is not added by food producers. It is chemical that forms from high heat -> when starchy foods are baked, toasted, or fried at high temperatures. Think FRENCH FRIES. It is a flagged carcinogen and reproductive hazard found in kids cookies, teething biscuits, high starch flour and rice crackers, and puffy rice snacks.

Is it more expensive to eat clean?

YES & NO. It's all relevant to how you shop and where. I don't shop at Costco. One might argue that it's cheaper, but I would never buy meat at Costco. I have only been in a Costco twice. I don't skimp on some things such as meat, or other products the Japanese refer to as "industrilaized." Soy sauce is one. For example; I buy barrel aged soy sauce, and it's expensive, but it's also strong and can be watered down = healthier option. I find local farm produce lasts longer than industrialized farmed foods- even though they coat that produce in chemicals- it still doesn't outlast local fresh produce. Just my observation.  I don't buy as much. I don't go on shopping sprees. I hand pick only whats needed- cook all of it ASAP. A home deli made with clean ingredients is cheaper than eating out.

There are way too many foods & things bad for us so why bother?

You're so right. It's mind boggling; the extent that dangerous ingredients are making their way into our bodies. There's no stopping it unless you live remotely- away from civilization, grow your own food & live off grid- au natural. But you can do better this Western World. You just have to care enough to alter a few things & remain vigilant.

Got a Question? Ask me & I may just include it on this page

I will add the answer just ask me.

How much will this cost me?

It really irks me when I am on a website and cannot find the cost. I will explain as best I can here -example: the cost for 2 people to cover 4 meals per day for 4 days (16 meals), 6 pounds of protein (meat) + cooked or raw vegetables, greens, and one dish such as canneloni or spaghetti pomodoro- will cost approx $160 for the groceries/ food; cooking, parking if applicable will cost an added $195 + $25 shop/ park/ delivery fees if applicable. Total weekly cost for this ensemble will be about $380 per week.  If you are only one person, its about $160 - $175. Can be less or more depending on your likes & dislikes.
